Autumn is the right season for Val d’Orcia: the hot water actually feels hot and the gravel roads are empty. The base is Bagno Vignoni, where the village square is a sixteenth-century pool, and from there the warm cascades of Bagni San Filippo are half an hour away.
The programme alternates mornings in the water with unhurried afternoons: Pienza, San Quirico, a winery in Montalcino. No early alarms, no long transfers.
What makes this trip special
